This Privacy Policy explains how Cuiscan ("we", "us", the "App") handles information when you use the App. By using Cuiscan you agree to this policy.

1. No account required

Cuiscan does not require you to create an account or provide your name, email, or password. The App works using a randomly generated, anonymous device identifier stored locally on your device.

2. Information we process

• Menu & dish photos (camera): When you scan a menu or dish, the captured image is sent to our AI provider (Google Gemini) to identify the dish and generate descriptions, estimated nutrition, and tags. We do not use these photos to identify you and we do not retain them on our own servers.
• Approximate location: Only when you use the "Nearby restaurants" feature, your device location is used to search for nearby places. It is sent to mapping providers (Google Places and/or OpenStreetMap) to return results. We do not store your location.
• Local app data: Your favorites, preferences (e.g., dietary settings), scan counts, and the anonymous device identifier are stored locally on your device. We do not collect this on our servers.
• Subscription & purchase data: Purchases are processed by Apple. We use RevenueCat to verify your subscription status. We do not receive or store your payment card details.
• Diagnostics: The App may generate anonymous technical logs to help fix errors. These do not identify you.

3. Third-party services

To provide its features, the App sends limited data (such as a menu image or a location query) to the following providers, each governed by its own privacy policy:

• Google (Gemini AI, Places, Custom Search)
• Serper (image search)
• Unsplash (images)
• RevenueCat (subscription management)
• Apple (in-app purchases)

4. How we use information

We use the information solely to: identify dishes and provide nutrition/eating information, find nearby restaurants when requested, manage your subscription and premium features, and improve and troubleshoot the App.

5. Data sharing & sale

We do not sell your personal information. We only share data with the third-party providers listed above strictly to deliver the requested features.

6. Data retention

Local data remains on your device until you delete the App or clear its data. Images sent to AI providers are processed to return a result and are subject to those providers' retention policies; we do not keep our own copies.

7. Children

Cuiscan is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country) and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

8. Your choices

• You can deny or revoke camera and location permissions in your device settings (some features will not work without them).
• You can delete all local data by deleting the App.
• You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID settings.

9. Important note about nutrition & allergens

Nutrition values, ingredients, and dietary/allergen tags shown in the App are estimates generated by AI and may be inaccurate or incomplete. They are not medical advice and must not be relied upon for allergies, medical conditions, or dietary safety. Always confirm with the restaurant.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date reflects the latest version.
